Although it isn't in "perfect" sonnet form, I have to say that it really does reflect my feelings about the islands of Haida Gwaii. Yon Island Yon island, gray-shadowed, calls in the mist, Defines far horizon’s long ocean reach. In sky, heavy silver-lined clouds, drooping, list O’er rippled waves seeking home on the beach. The boom of the waves, the call of the sea, Black raven’s brisk hop, eagle’s lofty sway, Red splash of wild berry, dune’s sandy lea, On the gray-green ground of a rain-splattered day. Chill windy hours on a long lonely shore, Wild joyous freedom, wonder, beauty, all. Alone, not lonesome, with nature I soar, Drawn in, heart open, to Creator’s call. Far island, lone shoreline, and rich tidal fen, Mystery, deep longing, you call me again. Date February 2009 Back to Creative Writing	My name is Norma, aka Pen and Paper Mama. I'm married to Lionel, and we have 5 kids - Taryn, Sarah, Robyn, Wendy and Peter, and four grandchildren, Tony, William, Marcus, and Apollo - with three more on the way! Having recently lost my job due a company closure, I have decided to take the plunge, and really focus - professionally - on my passions! I love writing, tutoring, and facilitating Christian study groups. I'm an enthusiastic volunteer with Another Chance Street Ministry. And I also enjoy exercise, gardening, playing guitar, language learning, sketching, and a multitude of other interests - a "Jill of all trades."
